Techniques & Conditions Notes
Flow is in a great fishable range on the Green River tailwater. This is one of the premier trout fisheries in the American West. All three sections are fishable — Section A offers the most technical fishing, Section B and C offer more space and bigger fish.
Rain forecasted in the next 48 hours — Flaming Gorge Dam releases may change. Check conditions before making the drive to the Green River.
Cool water temps — nymphing will consistently outperform dry flies. The Green tailwater fish are active even in cool temps. Focus on deeper seams and slower runs in all sections.
Overcast skies are perfect for BWO hatches on the Green tailwater. This river is world famous for its BWO hatches — watch for rising fish throughout all sections especially in the slower flat water.
Spring on the Green below Flaming Gorge is world class. Regulated flows mean consistent conditions. Watch for the Salmonfly hatch in Section A — it can be one of the most explosive hatches in the west.
