Techniques & Conditions Notes
Flow is elevated on the Green River. Target inside bends and eddies behind boulders. Use heavier split shot to get flies down. Streamer fishing along cut banks can be excellent in higher flows.
Flow has been rising over the last 6 hours — Flaming Gorge Dam releases are increasing. Fish now before clarity decreases. Streamers and large nymphs will outperform dries in rising water.
Ideal water temp for Green River rainbow and brown trout. This is prime time on one of the best tailwaters in the west. Expect excellent dry fly opportunities during hatch windows. The fish can be very selective so match the hatch carefully.
Summer on the Green is legendary. PMD hatches, evening caddis, morning Trico spinner falls, and afternoon hopper fishing make this one of the finest dry fly destinations in the country. The fish are large and very selective.
